Who cares? I have a k+n filter that fits the carb
perfectly. It doesn't fit in the frame though, so
I made an intake 90 degrees and fit the filter to the
end of it I could put the filter end where the
old airbox was or sticking out square to the frame.
I didn't like the performance however. I gained
much top-end at the cost of low end power, which
I prefer so I ended up taking it off and running
a foam filter which actually flowed air better then
the cloth K+N. I made the intake using the stock
rubber tube, a 90 deg L joint (pvc pluming pipe),
and hose clamps. Cost was around 3 dollars.
